Dark Cloud is an action role-playing game developed by Level-5 and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 2 in December 2000 in Japan, and in North America in May 2001.
In Dark Cloud, players take on the role of Toan, a young boy who must restore his world, which has been destroyed by an evil force. The game combines elements of action, adventure, and town-building mechanics.
The gameplay revolves around exploring randomly generated dungeons, fighting enemies in real-time combat, and collecting "Geostones" that represent pieces of the destroyed world. These Geostones are used to rebuild the various towns and villages that have been swallowed by the dark force.
