Donkey Kong Land 3 is a platforming video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy handheld console. It was released in 1997 and is the third and final installment in the Donkey Kong Land series.

Donkey Kong Land 3 closely follows the formula of its predecessors, offering a similar gameplay experience to Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, which was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game's plot centers around Dixie Kong and her cousin, Kiddy Kong, as they embark on an adventure to rescue Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, who have gone missing.

In Donkey Kong Land 3, players control Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong as they traverse through various environments, such as forests, mountains, and underwater levels, all rendered with the Game Boy's limitations in mind. The game features multiple worlds, each consisting of several levels, with each world ending in a boss battle.

Both Dixie and Kiddy have unique abilities that players can utilize to overcome challenges. Dixie can use her ponytail to hover and slow her descent, while Kiddy has superior strength, allowing him to defeat larger enemies and break through obstacles.

One of the notable features of Donkey Kong Land 3 is the animal buddies, which are companions that Dixie and Kiddy can ride to gain additional abilities. Some of the animal buddies include Ellie the Elephant, Enguarde the Swordfish, and Squawks the Parrot.

Similar to the Donkey Kong Country games, Donkey Kong Land 3 places a strong emphasis on exploration and hidden secrets. Collectible items such as Bonus Coins, Bear Coins, and Photographs can be found throughout the levels, adding replay value and encouraging players to fully explore each stage.

Donkey Kong Land 3 received generally positive reviews upon its release for its faithful adaptation of the SNES gameplay on the Game Boy, challenging level design, and charming visuals. It is considered one of the better platforming titles on the Game Boy and a fitting conclusion to the Donkey Kong Land series.
